Stage 3 – Amersfoort

The trip

The walk to Amersfoort was great. Nice scenery, woods, big houses and lots of green. The trip was 30,5 km and that took me 6 hours and 33 minutes.

I had some breaks, to give my feet and legs some rest. I don’t have to break the world record speed walking. I arrived at my place to sleep around 5pm and almost knocked on the wrong door. Luckily Niels saw me, and called me in. Here are some pictures of the trip:

The accommodation

My hosts for this day were Niels, Janny and their son Max. I know Niels for quite some time now, we met on a WordCamp, follow each other on Twitter, and occasionally we exchange business ideas and thoughts.

When I arrived, I took a quick shower to fresh up and give my muscles some warm water. They needed that.

After the shower, I was invited to have a drink. While I was checking social media, Niels and Janny were preparing dinner. A greek style BBQ. It was so good! I noted down some recipes for home use.

The laptop

Before I left my home on May 19th, I decided to do some updates on my laptop. I learned the hard way, not to do that. I couldn’t boot it up anymore. So, Niels was very helpful to provide me a USB harddisk to backup my data, so I could reinstall Ubuntu. Yes, I’m carrying a USB stick with Ubuntu install on it, so I can boot Ubuntu, also when my installation does not work. And that’s how I’m typing this blog. In a bar/cafe in Voorthuizen, called Lounge3. So, lesson learned.

The end of this day

Sleeping was again great. I went to bed around 10pm, and didn’t wake up until …. You can read that in the next post, where I will tell about my trip to Stroe.
